Now THAT’S a Church I Could Be Part Of!
“Hey Dad! They were just talking about Mountain on the radio!”
My daughter Ellie told me. Jack Larkin, afternoon radio personality for Shine FM in Baltimore, is a part of our church at Mountain. On air he shared a cool experience he had over the weekend. It involves the Navy game, a friend who hadn't been to church in 20 years, and tennis balls.
What does that clip make you feel or think?
When I heard what Jack said about his experience at Mountain, here are some thoughts that went through my mind:
Jack’s friend hadn't been to church in 20 years. So when was the last time I invited a friend like that to church? How about you?
A lot of people have big hang-ups about the church, like Jack’s friend. If they EVER darken church doors we have an opportunity to reinforce their stereotypes of those stupid Christians, or to bash them. Which will your church do this weekend?
It sure is important that people who wear the name of Jesus are known for serving. Serving is the best apologetic in our day. It makes the good news credible to a watching world. So let’s be living proof of loving God to a watching world.
